Bloodmoon Ursaluna is one of the most powerful and unique Pokémon introduced in the Teal Mask DLC expansion. Unlike standard forms, this special encounter cannot be obtained through standard evolution methods. Trainers must complete a multi-step side quest involving exploration, Pokédex tracking, and photography tasks to secure this special Ground and Normal-type encounter.
Completing the Kitakami Pokédex Requirement
The journey to unlocking Bloodmoon Ursaluna begins by meeting the traveling photographer Perrin in Mossui Town. Before she agrees to share details about the mythical creature, you must catch at least 150 different Pokémon species within the Kitakami Pokédex. Fortunately, many of these species overlap with the base game Pokédex, allowing experienced players to meet the threshold quickly.
Defeating Perrin in Battle and Entering the Timeless Woods
Once you present your completed Pokédex progress to Perrin, she will challenge you to a casual trainer battle to test your readiness. After proving your battle capabilities against her Noctowl and Leafeon, she will instruct you to rendezvous at the Timeless Woods. Meeting her at this foggy location initiates the final photographic survey phase of the mission.
Completing the Foggy Photo Survey Task
In the Timeless Woods, you are tasked with taking clear photographs of ten distinct wild Pokémon species under the cover of thick fog. You must crouch and move stealthily to avoid startling wild Pokémon before taking pictures. Once all ten photographs are logged into Perrin's camera, the survey concludes and the powerful Bloodmoon Beast finally emerges.
Battling and Catching Bloodmoon Ursaluna
The encounter with Bloodmoon Ursaluna plays out like a boss battle with a boosted health bar. Because its Mind's Eye ability allows Normal and Fighting-type attacks to hit Ghost-type Pokémon, relying on Ghost-types for immunity will not work. Focus on applying super-effective Water, Grass, Ice, or Fighting-type attacks to deplete its health. Once defeated, the encounter guarantees a 100% catch rate regardless of which Pokéball you throw.
